Claudio Mattos
Claudio MattosOwner, 3rd Degree BJJ Black Belt, Muay Thai Grand Master
Claudio Mattos is a 3rd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai Grand Master under the Chute Boxe organization. Professor Mattos, or just “Professor” as he is known in the gym, began his martial arts journey at the age of 11 training in Capoeira and Boxing. Originally from Porto Alegre Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Professor moved with his family to Curitiba, Brazil at the age of 3 and lived there until coming to the United State in 2015.

Professor began his competitive fight career in 1987 at the age of 19 as a member of the first ever Chute Boxe Fight Team under Grand Master and Chute Boxe founder, Rudamir Fedrigo. That first fight Chute Boxe fight team dominated the Muay Thai fight scene and paved the way for some of the greatest fighters in the history of Pride and the UFC. Out of that original fight team, Professor was known as the knockout artist due to his tremendous punching power and speed. As a result of his success, Brazilian newspapers have since often referred to Professor as the “Wanderlei Silva of the 1980s”.

When the Chute Boxe organization moved into Vale Tudo (Portuguese for “anything goes”) fighting, Professor began training heavily in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. During his BJJ training, Professor studied under the legendary Rafael Cordero, as well as Cristiano Marcelo, George Patino “Macaco”, Nino Schembri, and many more. The influence of these legendary coaches can be seen in the hightly technical and explosive nature of Professor’s BJJ style.

During his professional fighting and coaching career Professor has trained with the “Who’s Who” of the Vale Tudo and mixed martial arts world including Wanderlei Silva, Anderson Silva, Shogun Rua, Ninja Rua, Cyborg and Cris Cyborg, Sakuraba, and many more.

Calen Born
Calen BornOwner, Fighter, BJJ Instructor
Calen Born started wrestling in 2003, and competed on a national level in Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and Folkstyle wrestling. He first began training in Judo and Jiu Jitsu in 2007. In 2008, he began studying Shaolin Gong Fu and kickboxing under Master Dwane Lewis.

Currently a high-level Brown Belt, Calen is pursuing the goal of becoming a Chute Boxe Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under Grand Master Claudio Mattos.

Calen took his first Mixed martial arts fight in 2012. After competing on a national level in Judo, he was promoted to Black Belt in 2013. In the same year, he also earned his Black Belt in Shaolin Gong Fu.

Over the past three years Calen has remained undefeated with 6 Professional MMA wins with five first round finishes, 3 submission and 2 TKOs. Chute Boxe KC is now formulating a plan to have him signed to the UFC within a year.

Calen believes that martial arts is a vessel you can use to enhance and change the entire course of your life. He is living proof.

Nik Folken
Nik FolkenFighter, Strength and Fitness Instructor
Nik has been competing since he was 3 years old in a variety of sports including wrestling, football, MMA, rugby, and track. Starting wrestling at a young age, he has 13 years of training, and another 10+ years of football experience including the collegiate level. With over 10 years of his life to dedicated strength and conditioning his expertise has helped many smash their strength goals. Nik is a very well-rounded instructor teaching boxing, kickboxing, grappling, and strength & conditioning classes for the past 7 years.
Ryan Bade

Ryan fell in love with boxing and fitness in 2007 and has been heavily involved in boxing instruction and personal training ever since. Ryan is the gym’s mobility guru. From developing flexibility to general body maintenance Ryan has techniques and exercises for everyone. Ask him about the benefits of myofascial release! Will Becker

Will’s passion for martial arts started at the age of 3 when his parents enrolled him in Karate. By the time he was 15 he had progressed to Blue Belt and began an interest in MMA and boxing. For three years Will dedicated himself to the study of boxing and along the way helped teach the youth boxing program. With an intelligent, analytical approach to training, Will prides himself on providing precise technique and insightful advice to the Chute Boxe members he helps coach.
Alex Buettner

Alex is no stranger to hard work or competition. After participating in a variety of sports, his passion for mixed martial arts and fitness have helped him become the passionate fitness professional he is today. Over ten years of training experience allows him to understand a wide range of individuals and their conditions, goals, and needs. With an emphasis in fighter-style workouts, employing a combination of cardiovascular endurance, coordination, and strength training exercises, Alex aims to elevate participants’ health across the board. Some of his training partners consider him “Unkillable”.
Roderick Sherrill
Roderick SherrillYouth BJJ
Roderick is on the mats 5 days a week, and some days twice a day. Years ago he fell in love with Jiu Jitsu and how it can change person. His youth Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction emphasizes confidence, discipline, perseverance, and determination. Having a large family of his own, Roderick is very familiar with the intricacies of teaching and guiding children. A true student of the game, you can always find him drilling and working technique on the mat. Roderick has had the privilege of training under many great legends and teams including Team Quest, The Ribeiro Brothers, Charles Gracie, Eddie Bravo, and of course Chute Boxe’s own Professor Claudio Mattos.
